SPONSORED EVENTS

1

Work Auction

The work auction is a fundraiser for Stevens County FFA3 and the proceeds go to help sponsor numerous events for the students throughout the year. The FFA members compile a list of their skills or talents, then they have the opportunity to go and work for local community members. This is a great event that allows the students to network with local agriculturalists and build relationships with other members of their community.

Urban Ag Day

Teaching others about agriculture is a passion for many within the agriculture industry and Urban Ag Day allows our community to reach out and do just that. This event is led by the local Chapters but has grown into a large scale event held at the MN State Fairgrounds.  Urban area schools bus students to the fairgrounds where FFA members and other agriculturalists from around the state teach students about where their food comes from and how agriculture impacts their everyday life.

The scholarship is awarded to those who demonstrate leadership skills, personal growth, and career success.

Chapter Activities

Both the Morris and Hancock FFA chapters are involved in numerous activities throughout the year such as fruit sales, kiddie barn, corn drives, making and donating tie blankets, or hosting educational speakers to name a few. Each chapter also hosts their own Chapter banquet where they celebrate all of the accomplishments of the chapters and highlight individual members from throughout the year.

Ag Education Center

The Ag Education Center at the Stevens County Fairgrounds is run by both the Morris and Hancock FFA Chapters. The students take visitors on a tour of the barn which is set up to teach fairgoers about the process of how their food gets from the field, diary or feedlot to the grocery store. Stevens County FFA3 helps to sponsor some costs that are associated with running the barn for 4 days of the Stevens County Fair.

State Greenhand Leadership Camp (SGLC) is a camp for younger members or members who are new to the organization who have an interest in leadership. State Leadership Camp for Chapter Leaders (SLCCL) is more focused around not only growing oneself as a leader, but also gaining a better understanding for how to lead others. Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) is an event held in Washington DC. where students come from all across the nation to learn and network with others so they can bring new leadership ideas back to their local chapters.
